Gwen Stefani urodziła się w Fullerton w Kalifornii, w 1969 roku. Jako osiemnastolatka wraz z bratem stworzyła zespół No Doubt. W 1991 roku zadebiutowali albumem "No Doubt". Sukces debiutanckiej płyty zmobilizował wokalistkę do rozpoczęcia nagrań następnego krążka. Ostatecznie, dwa lata po solowym debiucie, Gwen wydała drugi album, zatytułowany "The Sweet Escape". W nagraniach wokalistce ponownie pomógł niezawodny producent Pharrell Williams, który jest również jednym z jurorów programu "The Voice".
