❕LADIES❕ #SmearForSmear I recently went for my first smear test after putting it off for a YEAR! 3 in 4 women receive the results we all want to receive ‘your results were fine, come back in 3 years...’ - for me that was not the case. So yesterday I went for a Colposcopy as my smear picked up abnormal precancerous cells.. which can come in stages after Normal Cells (Mild Moderate & Severe) mine being Severe - one stage down from tumour cells - I needed to be treated there and then which I wasn’t expecting, by a treatment called Large Loop Diathermy of the Cervix. The gynaecologist and nurses were amazing and really looked after me! I would of had no idea about these abnormalities if it wasn’t for this test! I do regret putting off my smear for a year! Who knows, maybe if I hadn’t put it off for so long I would of had a different result, maybe if I’d left it longer it could of been worse.. but I’ll never know. 4 Weeks Recovery and another smear test in 6 months for me. 1 in 3 young women do not attend their cervical cancer screening test and just under 1000 women die from cervical cancer a year in the UK. It cost nothing to go to your test, it doesn’t even take 5 minutes. Not going could cost you a whole lot more. This whole experience has made it so important to me to raise awareness. This being the reason for sharing. We are lucky these tests are FREE. PLEASE if you are overdue your smear PLEASE book it NOW - it is very important! #SmearForSmear #CervicalCancer #Cancer #Awareness #CancerAwareness #SmearTest #SmearCampaign #Girls #CervicalCancerAwareness

❕ L A D I E S ❕ Here is my belated #SmearForSmear 💋 • I recently went for my first Smear test.. like everybody, I wanted to open the letter & read “Your results were normal - come back in 3 years”... but that wasn’t the case. So today, I went for a Colposcopy & also had a Biopsy because my smear picked up abnormal, pre-cancerous cells. The gynaecologist & nurses were so lovely & talked me through everything ☺️ However, I would of had NO IDEA about these abnormalities if it wasn’t for this test! • 1 in 3 young women do not attend their cervical screening tests, & just under 1000 women die from cervical cancer every year in the UK 😞. It costs nothing but a few awkward minutes to have a smear test, but not going could cost you a lot more • I know this seems a very personal thing to share, but I think it’s so important to raise awareness. We are so lucky to live in a country where these preventative, potentially life saving tests are FREE. If my post was a reminder of that letter you shoved in a drawer a while ago - book yours NOW! It could be the most important thing you do 💗 • #smear #smearcampaign #cervicalcancer #cervicalcancerawareness #colposcopy #biopsy #hpv #awareness #prevention #bookyourappointment #nhs

TODAY I DO MY #smearforsmear On Tuesday I finally went for my #smear / #cervicalscreening ! DON’T be embarrassed we need to speak about it more ... way more !!! I put it off for 4 years ! FOUR ! Why? I genuinely was too scared to go ... I’d heard horror stories and in all honesty I really didn’t think it was that important ! I have since learnt that 1 in 3 women my age miss their smear because they are embarrassed , scared or don’t see the point ! I am now embarrassed to have not gone for so long .... it really really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be ! There were no stirrups , there was no metal torture contraption and no evil nurse ! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to your smear ! Nearly 900 women die a year due to cervical cancer ! Think of it as a tickly toothbrush that might save your life !!! ❤️
