This is in connection with the bird radiograph i posted before this. You may notice the fracture on the right tibiotarsus (lower leg) on that radiograph... This patient was only 50 grams which means we are very limited in our surgical treatment options and in most cases external coaptation (aka stabilizing bandage) is our only realistic means of treatment. Here you see me applying a "masking tape bandage" using layers of tape laid across the fracture to create a stable mini-cast. Hopefully this, in addition to anti-inflammatory/pain meds & crate rest, is sufficient to allow the fracture to stabilize and heal and give the bird a relatively normal life. Only time will tell. Keep your fingers crossed for this little lovebird 😬

I think squirrels are super interesting critters! And they're so adaptable! I'm Examining a wildlife squirrel brought in by a Good Samaritan. This IS NOT how I recommend handling wildlife and it is not a good sign that this poor kiddo is so content in my hands. Healthy wildlife patients are aggressive and dangerous as they should be. Please do not attempt to handle Wildife and be very careful even with sick and debilitated individuals. I'm not sure what's wrong with this fella and our overnight Doctor sent him to a wildlife rehabilitator last night. #wildvet #wildlifemedicine #vetmed #squirrels #squirrelmedicine #veterinary #veterinarian

Tortoises make great pets and great props...JK!!! This is one very cooperative tortoise tho. Sulcatta tortoises often hide in their shells and LITERALLY NOTHING can get them out.
